Assessment: What Do Grades Have to Do with it?

Focused seminar specifically covers Owl Mountain Coaching Principle 3.5
"Teachers' system for assessment(grading) is rarely challenged by students, parents, or administrators because it is public, consistent, and ongoing. Students understand the strength/growth areas and can compute their grades on their own".

Assessment should be a two-way process that is carried out through interaction between the teacher and the learner. Students should know and understand their current level of performance at all times. If not, grades become a source of conflict as they are challenged by students, parents, and/or administrators. Participants will work to create a system that is clear, transparent, and ongoing.
Audience: All

Classroom Management: Data and Patterns

Specifically based on Owl Mountain Coaching Principle 3.6 -
"Teachers have a discipline approach/plan in place that is firm, fair, and consistent, They rarely send students to the office".

"The more there will be laws, the more there will be thieves". Lao Tzu

Rules will be broken-how they are handled will make or break the classroom community. In this interactive seminar, participants will audit classroom behaviors, engage in data-driven conversations, and examine belief systems about student behavior and parent/teacher responsibility. Audience: Coaches, Dean of Students, Parents, Teachers, Administrators.

Collaborative Learning: Honoring and  Promoting Social and Intellectual Exchange

Collaborative learning is an infrastructure that is designed to support authentic learning. It is the foundation for shared reading, the writing process, project-based learning, argumentation and debate, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Participants learn to create an environment that honors individual accountability and interdependence, and promotes dialogue over monologue.
