When a teacher retires, an entire storehouse of knowledge is often lost. Now
a retired educator has reproduced her storehouse in A Coach’s Guide to Asset-Mapping Teacher Quality: The Journey from
Compliance to Community. The
journey begins at a place called “compliance” and ends at a destination named
“community.” During three “stops” on the journey, eighteen principles in three
core areas critical to teacher quality and classroom practices are examined.
The asset-mapping system equips coaches to
acknowledge and affirm the beliefs, skills, and strengths (assets) within the
school that can be leveraged for teachers to support one another. It is a
job-embedded, ongoing, and formative approach to professional development. The
workbook contains proven time-saving worksheets, templates, workshop ideas and
materials, one-on-one teacher activities – all created by an experienced educational coach.
Please contact Lorraine Richardson to invite her to conduct readings, talks, and signings at your bookstore, event, community center, church, or library.
