Conversations About Literacy: Across All Disciplines and Grade Levels
All teachers are reading and writing teachers because all students need to be able to read, write, AND speak knowledgeably about music, basketball, computers, science, math, and government.
To prepare students for demands of printed materials that are filled with new words and complex ideas, teachers across grade levels and disciplines need to engage in “Conversations” about brain and research-based strategies for improving students’ literacy skills.
A uniform conceptual framework for teaching and assessing writing allows ALL teachers to be calibrated to one another.
